Ontario is scrapping all capacity limits & vaccine passports tomorrow

Officials are going full steam ahead with Ontario’s reopening plan. Premier Doug Ford announced that as of this Tuesday, March 1st, capacity limits will be removed entirely at all indoor public settings. At the same time, proof of vaccination requirements will be lifted for all settings.

This means that as of March 1st, you will no longer be required to present your vaccine QR code to go to a gym, attend a concert, or dine indoors at a restaurant.

Since February 17th, all capacity limits have been removed except for at concert venues, arenas, and theatres which were capped at 50%. Higher-risk settings like nightclubs have been adhering to capacity limits of 25%. However, these places will no longer be subject to capacity limits starting Tuesday.

Ford said that based on the advice of Dr. Moore, the mask mandate will remain in place “for just a little bit longer,” calling it an “important layer of protection that will allow us to proceed with our reopening plan safely.”

Ontario is speeding up its timeline for getting the economy back to normal. Last month, Ford said that capacity limits would be lifted entirely by March 14th, with proof of vaccination still in place. Now, it looks like Ontario will be fully reopened ahead of schedule.

Plus, as of February 28th, Canada’s non-essential global travel advisory has been lifted, as well as most of the PCR testing requirements. Looks like normal life is finally making its long-awaited comeback.
