It’s the season of cozy sweaters and warm sips! If you really want to treat yourself, then you have to check out the decadent hot chocolate bar at the Old Firehall Confectionery in Unionville.

The former firehall is a historic landmark that’s been converted into a premium confectionery shop owned by two best friends, Kimberly and Natasha.

The handcrafted treats are made in small batches from locally sourced ingredients.

From the front window of the firehall, you can see the Master Chocolatiers hard at work making the day’s confections.

The shop also serves up a variety of hot drinks, including Brazilian fair-trade coffee, premium teas, and of course, “ultimate” hot chocolate.

At the hot chocolate bar, you’ll get to choose from a mouthwatering variety of hot chocolate made from the highest quality Belgian chocolate bars and fresh milk.

They’re blended to order with hazelnut, peppermint, caramel, and other flavours, and topped with whipped cream or marshmallows.

These drinks are “worth every calorie,” according to the website, and we believe it!

If that’s not enough deliciousness for you, then you can take home a hot chocolate bomb or a bag of their house-made European hot chocolate in peppermint, salted caramel, and espresso flavours.

If that’s not a perfect excuse for a day trip to Unionville, we don’t know what is!

Established in the 1790s, Unionville is a quaint little hamlet within the larger city of Markham.

Its heritage buildings and main street will make you feel like you’re much further outside of Toronto than you really are.

It dates back over 200 years and the buildings look exactly as they did in the late 1700s.

So, sip the afternoon away in a charming atmosphere while the autumn leaves are still on display!
