If you love a good view and aren’t afraid of heights, BC is probably one of the most scenic places to go on a hot-air balloon ride, if you ask us. This spring, you can take to the skies with Okanagan Ballooning and experience the changing spring colours from new heights.

From sweeping views of the lakes and vineyards in Kelowna to the country farms of Armstrong, there will be plenty of unparalleled photo-ops on your journey.

The good news is that flights are year-round, so even if you’re not able to make it out this season, you can still get in on the fun this summer or fall if you play your cards right.

Okanagan Ballooning is family-owned and operated, and has been flying out of the Okanagan Valley for almost 20 years. They currently operate a 6-passenger balloon named Aurora, which can be in the sky anywhere between 45 minutes to 3 hours per ride, depending on the weather.

Pilot John Klempner has been a keen “ballooner” (a term we just coined) since 1994, acquiring his Transport Canada Pilot’s License in 1997.

While a hot air balloon ride is no doubt stunning during the warmer months, we think the experience is a quintessential way to take in the beautiful foliage any time of year.

Although the company is based in Kelowna, guests can fly over Vernon for an extra $75. Standard flights cost $425-450 per person, or you can book a romantic 3-hour flight for two for $1,750.

Enjoy your hot air balloon ride, Vancouver!
