Aurora alert: The Northern Lights could be visible across Canada this week

We hope you’re feeling rested, Canada, because the Northern Lights could be visible from coast to coast this week and you won’t want to miss it.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), magic seekers should keep their eyes on the night sky February 12th, 13th and 14th, 2024.

“Multiple CMEs from 08 and 10 Feb are likely to cause G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) geomagnetic storm conditions on 12-14 Feb,” they wrote on social media adding that the public should not be “concerned.”

They should, however, cross their fingers for a clear night!

From Vancouver to Calgary, Edmonton and beyond, those with little coverage could be in for a show they won’t soon forget, though we’d recommend heading out of the city and away from light pollution for the best view.

In Toronto? You might also be able to catch the show on the horizon.

“This is a prediction of the intensity and location of the aurora borealis tonight and tomorrow night over North America,” they explain on their website.

“It also shows a ‘viewline’ that represents the southern-most locations from which you may see the aurora on the northern horizon.”

Either way, get excited, Canada! There’s truly nothing quite like the Northern Lights and it certainly isn’t every day that you get a chance to see them.
