Hello 2024: Calgary is getting a dazzling fireworks show to ring in the new year

It’s on! The countdown to 2024 has begun and this year is going to be explosive!

As part of a longstanding tradition, the city has announced when and where they will be setting off this year’s massive New Year’s Eve firework show and Calgary night owls will not be disappointed.

Expected to delight and excite, this year’s programming will begin with a blessing from Indigenous Elder Clarence Wolfleg, then will be followed by a few words from Mayor Jyoti Gondek and a colourful display in Prince’s Island Park.

“Join me in welcoming the New Year by watching the captivating fireworks in person or through the live stream,” said Gondek.

“There are great things on the horizon. Together, let’s continue to build a strong future for everyone in the city.”

As usual, when the clock strikes 12, those in and around the area and everyone watching from home will be in for a spectacular show featuring a soundtrack curated by local radio station CJSW but that’s not all!

In addition to the fireworks, Calgarians who hit the town will also be encouraged to enjoy the extended skating hours at Olympic Plaza from 10 am to midnight – so the inner city really is your oyster!

For information on road closures and the complete transit schedule for December 31st, you can visit the city’s official website below.

It’s going to be a fantastic night so don’t miss it!
