The time has come, YYC! After an entire month of watching brand new eateries open for delivery under the cloak of Alberta’s COVID restrictions, tomorrow, June 1st, we will finally be able to hit the patios again! In celebration of the year’s sunniest season here are just a few new highly anticipated restaurants in Calgary that we’ll finally be able to check out starting this week! It’s going to be a tasty month, friends!

TOP NOTCH KENSINGTON

Described as ‘Kensington’s hippest little bar,’ the new eatery, which is aptly named Top Notch, is a funky little spot that believes a good time shouldn’t have to cost a fortune, an arm or a leg! From their cocktails and beer to their ‘adult’ Slurpees, burgers and other delightful bites, everything on their menu will only cost you $8. Wowza! Check them out, YYC!

COLLEGE BAR

Owned by the same folks behind other hot spots like Scuba Jay’s, Chemical Steve’s, Flirty Bird and Top Notch, College Bar will have TV’s, a designated games area, an incredible menu and Mission’s largest patio!

VEGAN STREET TACO BAR 

With happy hour specials, $6 margaritas and $5 beer, monster nachos and more, Vegan Street’s second resto of the same name, is a tasty plant-based spot that you definitely have to check out this week. Pop by and hang out on their cozy patio under the hot heat of the sun and leave with a stomach full!

GRANDIN HALL

When one beerhall closes, another opens. Located on the corner of 4th Street and 25th Avenue SW (previously WURST), this Carolina-Style BBQ hall and brewery will have amazing food, great drinks and a stage on its lower level. We can’t wait!

We’d be lying if we said that we didn’t miss 17th Avenue’s Royale and its 5-star decor, but that certainly doesn’t mean we’re not incredibly excited for a new restaurant to breathe some life back into the space. This sunny season, grab a drink and celebrate new beginnings at Porch YYC, a modern nostalgia resto and a Red Mile Staple-to-be.

They say that the higher you climb, the better the view and we couldn’t agree more. Floors above the inner city area, Calgarians will soon be able to grab a drink at The Rooftop YYC a dance hall, restaurant and lounge set to open this spring!

THE MAJOR TOM BAR – CALGARY 

’40 floors above it all,’ Major Tom will offer diners not only an incredible menu but an unparalleled view of the inner city. Though they’ve kept things pretty hush-hush, this sky-high eatery is rumoured to be Concorde’s newest pride and joy with big panoramic windows, a killer cocktail menu, and solid kitchen staff with years of experience; one of which they’ve spent just waiting for their grand opening.

FONDA FORA

Checking into Calgary’s upcoming Westley Hotel? Well even if you’re not you have to check out Fonda Fora a chef-inspired restaurant that celebrates authentic Mexican cuisine, and the mom-and-pop shops where people really fell in love with it.
