A live concert series is coming to the Vancouver Art Gallery this week

Pop-up concert lovers, take note! The Vancouver Art Gallery is hosting two back-to-back live music performances this week as part of a new series called New Music at the Gallery. Visitors of the gallery can expect to see concerts by the New Coast String Quartet, followed by a special celebration of Pride by Feven Kidane Quartet.

The music

Presented in partnership with the Canadian Music Centre BC, the former will draw inspiration from the Gallery’s current exhibit, The Imitation Game: Visual Culture in the Age of Artificial Intelligence. The latter will kick off Pride at the Gallery in celebration of Vancouver’s 2SLGBTQAI+ communities with compositions in the Black American Music, or jazz, tradition, inspired by the exhibition Uninvited: Canadian Women Artists in the Modern Moment.

The eats

Now, for food. A selection of eats and drinks provided by 1931 Gallery Bistro will be available to order online in advance. Folks can pick up their treats in the 4th Floor Pavilion 30 minutes before the concert begins.

Concert tickets for the New Coast String Quartet are available online for $10 for Gallery Members, and $15 for non-members. As for the Pride at the Gallery performance, regular admission rates will apply – and the event will be free for Gallery Members.

We’ll see you there, Vancouver!
