Rain or shine: Boots and Hearts closes with stunning performance by Shania Twain & we were living for it

Rain or shine, Boots and Hearts 2022 rocked down the house at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds this past weekend. Despite messy weather pouring down on the masses, the four-day event ended off with a nostalgic performance by a Canadian icon.

The annual country music festival gathers what seems like hundreds of thousands of country fans from across the world to enjoy four full days of live performances by local and international artists.

We managed to make the trek up north to Oro-Medonte, Ontario in a 2022 Buick Enclave. Needless to say, the ride up was a breeze and extremely comfortable. The new car is spacious which was a plus since we overpacked and had a few bags with us – just in case we needed a last-minute outfit change, of course.

As always, Toronto traffic was a bit hectic but thankfully we blasted some tunes courtesy of SiriusXM. Since the trip was a long one, we were definitely hungry and needed to fuel up to last the fun-filled event.

When it came to food options, Boots and Hearts was ready. Beloved Toronto spots like La Palma, COPS doughnuts, Cherry St. Barbecue, and Burger Drops catered the event for the full four days.

There were a handful of bars to keep you hydrated, as well as a Jose Cuervo spot for all your tequila needs.

This year, notable names like Jake Owen, Florida Georgia Line, and Dustin Lynch took the stage and kept the party going. With great food, refreshing drinks, and great music, the event was off to a great start.

It wasn’t until Sunday that the crowds grew much larger in anticipation for country music star and beloved Canadian artist Shania Twain to make an appearance.

The weather was kind for most of the weekend as a heat warning was in effect for most of the province but a sudden weather alert had organizers evacuate the campgrounds just 30 minutes before Twain was set to take the stage.

Torrential downpour and heavy winds lasted for a few minutes as people sought shelter and ran to their cars – us included. But thankfully it wasn’t enough to end the night and scare concert-goers away.

Shania Twain performed about an hour after her set time and it was a magical experience from start to finish.

With fans huddled up trying to get as close as they can get and others splashing in pools of water, nothing was going to stop the crowd from having a grand old time.

I’m not much of a country girl but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy every minute of it. Despite the rain, it was an adventure and a heartwarming experience. You could definitely feel the love in the crowd and that’s truly something special.
