We didn’t think we’d see another day like this so soon, but the province just keeps expanding! This weekend, Alberta will officially introduce its new area code – so don’t dismiss any incoming calls without thinking twice.

(368) – the new addition to our area code family of four, was announced last October by the Telecommunications Alliance, with the company stating that it would only be given out if they ran out of others.

While it’s unclear how close we are to maxing out our two most recently assigned numbers, Kelly T. Walsh, Program Manager of the Canadian Numbering Administrator, confirmed in a recent press release that they will gradually assign (368) starting Saturday, April 23rd.

“After this date, consumers and businesses requesting a new phone number may receive one with the new area code,” Walsh said.

This particular number will be added to our pretty impressive list of Alberta-centric identifiers that includes (403), (780), (587), and (825) which were introduced in 2008 and 2016 – but don’t get too comfortable too quickly. It’s only a matter of time until we see a new one.

As always – existing phone numbers will not be affected by the new Alberta area code, so don’t worry at all about trying to contact anyone or vice versa. It’s business as usual!
