National Parks, Historic Sites and more will be FREE to visit on Canada Day

Good news for those trying to enjoy a little nature, or a little history, this week! For Canada Day, the country’s national parks, historic sites and marine conservation areas will all feature free admission, making access that much easier.

Of course, the parks and reserves are going to be the biggest draw. From the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on Vancouver Island, to Alberta’s iconic Banff National Park, to the Bruce Peninsula National Park outside Toronto, these areas practically define what Canada has to offer nature enthusiasts.

But, there’s even more variety for the Historic Sites- buildings and areas deemed to be of major importance to the history of the country and those living here. These also have the added bonus of being a lot more numerous, with hundreds of such sites scattered across the country.

For the truly devoted, there are also a handful of Marine Conservation Areas around Canada to explore. We won’t lie- these require a little more planning to visit for most Canadians, but hey, if you’re feeling really adventurous this weekend they’ll be free as well!

Whatever you pick, it’s nice to know that National Parks (and the other two options) will be free to visit this Canada Day! To explore the list, and find one close to you, head to the Parks Canada website.
