It should come as no surprise that the top 10 are pretty familiar, with Luna in first place followed by Charlie, Bella and Milo in their dog category respectively and Leo, Luna, Milo and Lilly ranking in their cat category.

Trendy monikers such as Barbie (up 34% for dogs) and Pedro (up 50% for dogs) also got an honourable mention, in addition to Pascal which skyrocketed over 430% with cat owners.

The least surprising takeaway? Last year, cat owners chose several Taylor Swift-inspired names including Lavender (up 73%), Midnight (up 45%), August (up 45%), Betty (up 20%), and Karma (up 19%).

We can’t wait to see what people come up with in 2024.

We’ve got a long year ahead – but with a four-legged companion, it’s going to be a good one.

Happy naming!
