World-renowned Mediterranean street food spot opens in Toronto next month

A new spot for Mediterranean street food is coming to Toronto and you won’t have to wait long to indulge in its delicious cuisine. Miznon, which first opened in Tel Aviv back in 2011 and has since expanded around the world, and after months of preparations, it will finally open its first Canadian location next month.

The restaurant, which is set to open at 1235 Bay Street in the Yorkville area, has shared an opening date! According to an Instagram post, Miznon will welcome guests to its newest location on February 3rd, 2023.

Using fresh and seasonally inspired ingredients, Miznon aims to capture the flavours of each city and combine them all into one pita. “We take the energy, the groove, the desires, the limitations, the beauty, and the food and express it all in one pita,” said Miznon.

“Miznon is wild Mediterranean street food with pitas and dishes infused with chef Eyal Shani’s rebellious spirit and passion for pure ingredients.”

With Toronto being the multicultural hub that it is, we can only imagine what kinds of creations they’ll come up with. They have already teased one of its city inspired menu items – The Folded Cheeseburger “with a golden crown of cheddar,” according to a recent IG post.

ButMiznon’s NYC menu might give us more of an idea of what to expect at the Toronto locations. The wild mushroom pita is described as a “whole forest burned on hot steel,” which sounds both intriguing and delicious.

Other menu features include ratatouille, melting chickpea, and falafel burger in a pita, as well as grass-fed cow and lamb options like roast beef, lamb kebab, and rotisserie broken chicken.

You can also order the dishes on a plate instead of in a pita, and pair it with something sweet and beer or wine.

Miznon was founded by Eyal Shani, who is considered to be one of the “leading figures in the Israeli culinary scene,” according to the website. Shani even appeared on Israel’s Master Chef, so it’s safe to say that he knows his stuff.

Miznon Toronto will be open Sunday to Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Thursday to Saturday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

We’re so excited to try!
