This deep canyon was carved by one of Alberta’s most beautiful turquoise lakes

Wild Rose Country is a magnificent place with farmland as far as the eye can see, rivers bluer than blue and vibrant cities bustling with people.

Of course, some seasons are better suited for adventure and fall fits the bill! If you’re headed to the mountains this autumn, check out Mistaya Canyon, an Alberta beauty in the Icefields Parkway.

Located along the BC Border between Lake Louise and Jasper, you’ll find (and will likely fall in love with) Mistaya – but it’ll require a bit of a hike!

Luckily there are only 1.8 kilometres of trail, which bends around and across the canyon, so you won’t have to break too much of a sweat to see all there is to see.

Described as a “brief, relatively steep descent,” this reasonable loop will lead you to a beautiful bridge with incredible views of what’s below.

Carved by a powerful water stream that flows down from Peyto Lake, this limestone canyon has been thousands of years in the making and is a perfect place for a mid-day stroll, picnic or little photoshoot.

The only catch? It’s best seen between May and October so you’ll have to hurry hard to visit.

Enjoy and happy viewing! It really is a stunner.
