This scenic parkway in Ontario passes through 11 islands and it opens soon

Spring and summer road trips are ahead, and if you plan to take any in Ontario, make sure this spot is on the list. The picturesque Long Sault Parkway passes through 11 islands connected by one road, making for some jaw-dropping views.

The Long Sault Parkway is east of Kingston, Ont., along the St. Lawrence River between Cornwall and Brockville, and while there’s no exact opening date for the season, it’s expected sometime in April.

“Halfway between Kingston and Montreal, a series of eleven islands sweep in an arc through the St. Lawrence River like a necklace of green jewels. The Long Sault Parkway is the perfect place to get away from it all in the heart of the river,” shares Parks of the St. Lawrence.

Last year, Long Sault Parkway opened the 2025 season on April 15 and closed again for the season in mid-November.

The parkway hosts more than just beautiful views; it’s also home to three waterfront campgrounds and two golden sand beaches.

There are ten campgrounds in total to choose from, and while most of them don’t open until mid-May, reservations are open now and usually fill up pretty quickly.

Hop out of the car and explore on foot, as this is also a great destination for runners, cyclists and photographers, spanning just over 10 km. As Parks of St. Lawrence describes it, “This is a natural paradise, second to none.”

Typically, Parks of the St. Lawrence makes the announcement of the exact opening date on its Instagram, so be sure to check there (and with us) for more updates.
