Long Lake Provincial Park has two sandy beaches to offer, which just means twice the Alberta summer fun.
This provincial park has more than just beaches, but that’s what I’m here to highlight today. With the sunny weather in tow, many people are just looking to get outdoors. What better way to get outside than to lie down on a sandy beach, surrounded by friends, family, or even a special loved one?
Here, there are opportunities for canoeing, boating, windsurfing, water skiing, sailing, and fishing on the lake. It’s perfect for a day trip to the beach or a week-long camping getaway, great for any occasion.
You’ll find a spacious Day-Use Area featuring a sandy beach, a large grassy area for games and gatherings, and a playground with individual fire pits nearby. If you need to switch into swimming gear or go to the washroom, there’s a change room with flush toilets to ensure comfort during your visit.
Waters are clear, especially compared to most Alberta lakes, but we’d suggest keeping an eye on the algae depending on the time of year.
Are you going to get hungry on your beach day? No problem, as the concession is located here and features basic grocery and camping supplies, not to mention laundry. The biggest thing, though, is the fries and ice cream; I can’t go on a lake trip without them.
If you’ve decided to opt for the weekend trip, there’s a Long Lake Campground to suit your needs.
Located along the shores of Long Lake, this campground offers both unserviced and power sites, along with six walk-in tenting sites. Rates start at $31 per night for unserviced campsites and go up to $39. It’s not too far from the Day Use Area, so if you’re ever in need of any supplies, it’s only a short distance away.
Another plus for the camping side is that there is a private beach reserved for campers. While visitors can use the Day Use Area, you might be lucky enough to snag a great spot near the water if you’re an overnight guest.
Nevertheless, it’s about time to start packing already! Grab your friends, fill your cooler, and get ready for the best beach day of the year.
