LOCAL is opening a huge second location in the heart of Calgary’s Eau Claire

Eau Claire has undergone some major changes over the last couple of months and another one has finally been revealed. LOCAL Public Eatery has just announced that they’re opening a second location only a short jaunt from the Bow River.

Amongst all of the dust and debris – and so soon after the city removed the iconic splash park windmill – it’s actually pretty nice to see something familiar added to the area. If you’re curious about the location, The Bow River Barley Mill had occupied this space for 26 impressive years, until an alleged dispute with their landlord forced them out.

For those of you who have never been, LOCAL Public Eatery is a laid-back spot with a tasty menu, a pretty dang good brunch and an extensive beer and wine list that includes several locally-brewed sips – many of which are rotated daily. The restaurant currently operates 11 other restaurants across Canada and one in Seattle, and is in the same realm of ‘premium casual’ spots like JOEY and Cactus Club.

Considering JOEY has a location directly across from this Eau Claire LOCAL, diners will be able to pick their favourite in no time.

Basically, LOCAL is the kind of place that you go after work for a beer or before heading over to a concert or hockey game – and Calgary could always use more of those, especially now that live events are coming back.

Can’t wait to check it out?! Well, you’re in luck, because it won’t be long until you can hit their huge Barclay patio. Opening day for the new location is slated to be August 21st.
