This Ontario beach has sandy shores & a waterfront trail with beautiful views

Beach day, anyone? Lakeside Park Beach in St. Catharines has everything you need for the ultimate day along the shore. The beach features volleyball courts, a snack bar, a park, a waterfront trail and a carousel!

According to the St. Catharines tourism website, “on the south shore of Lake Ontario, the picturesque Lakeside Park Beach offers stunning views of the Port Dalhousie harbour, lighthouse and north shore of Lake Ontario.”

Be sure to get to the beach early to claim a parking spot if you’re travelling by car.

There are 80 spots available with parking costing $3 per hour in the lot.

As for what to do while at Lakeside Park Beach, there’s no shortage!

The public volleyball courts are popular among beach-goers as is the carousel with 68 animals to choose from.

The carousel is one of around 350 “antique hand-carved carousels” still operating in North America and is one of nine that are in Canada.

It only costs five cents to ride the carousel, open daily from July 1st – September 2nd from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM.

Also along Lakeside Park Beach is the Great Lakes Waterfront Trail. This trail spans the shoreline of quite a few towns in the area and in its entirety goes through 170 communities and past four Great Lakes! The stretch through St. Catharines, however, is stunning and worth taking a bike ride or stroll down to end your beach day!
