This stunning spot is home to one of Alberta’s most beautiful lakes

It’s no secret that Alberta offers an abundance of beautiful places. However, many of the most iconic are found in Jasper National Park. Nestled in the Rockies and dotted with crystalline glacier lakes, it’s no wonder that nearly every Canadian postcard features a snap from this place.

But even among giants, some spots manage to stand out. This stunning body of water is often referred to as Jasper’s most beautiful lake, and you can see why!

Lac Beauvert

Lac Beauvert is a glacier-fed lake near the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. In French, “beauvert” translates to “beautiful green,” and it definitely lives up to its name. The lake boasts splendid vistas of the surrounding Rockies combined with glass-like water that offers a perfect view of the bottom in some areas.

In the summer months, Lac Beauvert in Jasper is even warm enough for a dip!

Nearby Trails

Jasper, Alberta is no stranger to prolific hiking trails. But if you want something that delivers on views, but doesn’t require as much athleticism, Lac Beauvert is your spot for easy hiking.

A scenic hiking trail that begins at Jasper Park Lodge follows the shoreline of Lac Beauvert for roughly 3.5 km. The upgraded path is wide and pretty level, making it an easy stroll through the forest, without giving up any of the views.

While this walk in the park may feel pretty tame, make sure you still keep an eye out for wildlife. Elk favour the area near the Jasper Lodge golf course, and bear sightings have been reported around springtime.

On The Water

In the summertime, you can rent paddleboats, canoes, and guided clipper tours to get out on the water. Parking is available via Old Fort Point Road, making it easy to launch your non-motorized watercraft.

Best Time To Visit

While Lac Beauvert in Jasper is a beautiful destination year-round, summer is certainly the best time to visit if you want to take full advantage of the lake.

Enjoy the limpid glacier waters as you take a dip, rent a paddleboard, or canoe along the lake. The views are spectacular, but seeing them from the water gives you a whole new perspective.
