Ontario has a kilt-wearing Scottish town where ‘pants are always optional’

No pants? No problem! The fun-loving town of Kincardine says that when you’re on their turf, “pants are always optional.”

But, before you go streaking through the streets, let’s back up for a second!

Kincardine is a town with strong Scottish roots and heritage. That means the traditional kilt is always an acceptable dress code.

“You have found Ontario’s Scottish destination,” says Visit Kincardine.

“Idyllic surroundings, captivating lifestyle, festive events, live theatre, and much more, have all amused and beguiled residents and visitors of Kincardine for generations.”

The charming small town is located on the shores of Lake Huron in Bruce County.

It boasts a sandy surfing beach and a scenic boardwalk. Yes, you can surf in Ontario, and Kincardine’s Station Beach is a popular hot spot for it.

The lakeside downtown core is filled with boutiques, specialty shops, restaurants, pubs, bakeries, and cafes.
