One of BC’s largest municipal parks has meandering nature trails with panoramic views

The snow is already falling at some of BC’s most popular ski hills, which means the season is inching closer and closer. If you want to add a lesser-known gem to your winter trail map this year, consider adding Kamloop’s Kenna Cartwright Park.

Considered one of the largest municipal parks in BC with nearly 800 hectares of terrain, the nature park is dog-friendly and a delightful visit any time of year.

According to Tourism Kamloops, visitors are able to enjoy panoramic views of Kamloops, the scenic Thompson Valley, and Kamloops Lake on any of the extensive hiking trails, which vary in difficulty.

With over 55 kilometres of meandering, multi-use trails to choose from, the park is a great destination on matter if you’re hiking, mountain biking, or snowshoeing.

The park is also off-leash friendly, so your canine companions can enjoy the trip, too.

Trail difficulty is largely influenced by elevation change, which can be viewed on the park map.

So there you have it, BC! Winter is rapidly approaching, and we’re on a mission to uncovering some great cold-weather destinations across the province.

How to get there: Drive three hours and 43 minutes via Trans-Canada Highway/BC-1 E and BC-5 N.
