Hudson’s Bay touches hearts of Canadians in sweet goodbye message

Grab your tissues and your striped blankets, Canada. After 355 years, Hudson’s Bay is officially closing all of its doors and has sent one last message to canucks across the country.

After announcing in March the coming closure of most of its locations, the Canadian department store recently decided to close the remaining six stores in Ontario and Quebec, marking the end of an era.

Taking to Instagram, Hudson’s Bay shared some sweet words, writing, “If there’s one thing we know, it’s that our stripes will live on. Keep them wrapped around your shoulders, displayed in your homes, and stitched into the memories we made together. You’ll always be part of our story, Canada. All Hudson’s Bay stores and thebay.com are closing.”

Now, if there’s one silver lining in all of this, it’s that the final stores will be holding liquidation sales, with savings of up to 70 per cent off.

The last remaining six stores are located:

  • Flagship store – 176 Yonge St., Toronto, Ont.
  • Yorkdale Shopping Centre – 3401 Dufferin St., North York, Ont.
  • Hillcrest Mall – 9350 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, Ont.
  • Montreal flagship store – 585 Saint-Catherine St. W., Montreal, Que.
  • CF Carrefour Laval – 3003 Boul. le Carrefour, Laval, Que.
  • CF Fairview Pointe Claire – 6801 Trans-Canada Hwy, Pointe-Claire, Que.

The liquidation sales for the six stores begin today, April 25, 2025.

Be sure to stock up on your striped items. Thank you for a wonderful 355 years, Hudson’s Bay. Canada will miss you!
