ICYMI, The Honda Celebration of Light just concluded over the long weekend with its third firework show, courtesy of Team Spain’s Pirotecnia Zaragozana. Before that, Team Canada’s display lit up Vancouver skies on July 27th, and Team Japan’s Akariya Fireworks kicked off the series on July 23rd. So, the burning question left at the end of the series is–of course–who won?

While all three teams certainly rose to the occasion, the official winner of this year’s show is none other than Midnight Sun Fireworks, AKA- Team Canada.

Whether or not you agree with the judges’ (and people’s choice) decision – you can’t deny that Team Canada’s dazzling display was accompanied by some pretty great bops. From select songs from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” (complete with a ship battle!) to Village People’s “YMCA” – all the fan fave bases were covered.

And for folks who weren’t able to live stream the music successfully, we can empathize. Although hearing hundreds of “oohs” and “ahhs” from Vanier Park was pretty entertaining, too.

No matter who you were rooting for, this year’s Celebration of Light was definitely one for the books. The Honda Celebration of Light 2022 marks its 30th anniversary, with a record 1.3 million people in attendance!

Well, that’s this year’s winner of the Honda Celebration of Light. We hope you had a smashing long weekend and are ready for a tiny break from the heatwave this week.
