Okay, we have some very serious business to discuss with you. The business of finding the best tequila cocktails in town. Given the absence of all things fancy during our lockdown hibernation, and the year and a half of imperfectly mixed Margaritas, we’ve earned ourselves a tequila adventure. An adventure of interesting cocktails made with this sweet and earthy-toned Agave spirit.

Since we only trust the best, we teamed up with Patrón. We knew we were in great hands since Patrón is not just one of the finest tequila makers in the world, but also the first to have brought premium tequila outside of Mexico.

And thus began our hunt for the 6 best tequila cocktails in Toronto. Here are our top finds from the T-hunt:

The Honey at Mother Cocktail Bar

Mother Cocktail Bar currently has a Mexican-inspired pop-up menu, Dahlia. It features 5 innovative tequila cocktails crafted with Patrón. The Honey, with its fresh citrus, lavender honey and smoked bee pollen, is topping our list. Try it to understand why.

Patrón Perfect Margarita at Añejo

It did not take long for this King St gem to be discovered, despite the fact that it’s partially hidden. It’s now a go-to place for all things Mexican for many, us included. And their Patrón Perfect Margarita is one of the best tequila concoctions in town, especially if a classic drink with added orange notes is your thing.

Patrón Mule at The Dive Shop

Live music, surfer vibes, and unreal drinks. Can we ask for more? Although the entire menu is worth eating and drinking your way through, the Patrón Mule at The Dive Shop is certainly a shining star.

Puebla at The Parlour

There’s a reason why The Parlour appears on so many cocktail-related lists. With it’s impeccable vibe (you know we can’t get enough of their highly inspirational neon signs), to their food and drinks. Of course, we found one of our tequila faves here and it happens to be the Puebla. Made with Patrón Reposado Tequila, St~Germain, pineapple, and the perfect balance of cucumber, mint and jalapeno.

Pepino Diablo at El Catrín Destilería

There are many reasons one would go to El Cartrín- the authentic Mexican food, the vibe, the beautiful patio, the overall ambience. But once you’ve been immersed in the tequila experience, everything else takes a backseat. While they claim to have the best Margaritas in town (they do have outstanding margs btw), our fave tequila mix is the Pepino Diablo, made with Patrón, a refreshingly spicy and citrusy cocktail.

Ilios at Myth

This recently opened spot is topping our list, from the Greek-paradise ambience, to the food, to the handcrafted cocktails. Our favourite among these is the Ilios. Crafted with Patrón Reposado, blood orange, rosemary, and lemon, this is a cocktail that makes for dangerously easy sipping.

Once you’re done trying any of these cocktails, we’d say you’re ready to up your at-home tequila game as well. And adding a bottle (or 4) of Patrón to your bar cart is a great way of going about it.
