This New Year’s Eve hit Calgary’s Olympic Plaza, where Calgarians will be able to stay on the ice until midnight. Not only will it feel mighty magical to glide around under the lights, but those who take to the rink will also have a prime viewing spot ahead of the fireworks show.

Where: 228 8 Ave SE, Calgary

EAST VILLAGE RIVERWALK

With a fantastic view of the city skyline, Calgary’s East Village Riverwalk is guaranteed to be one of the best places to watch the fireworks this NYE. In addition to this, there are also plenty of restaurants and cafes to grab a bite or a nightcap before the show.

Where:  6th Street and 6th Avenue SE, Calgary

RUNDLE RUINS

A straight eyeshot from the Calgary Tower, the Rundle Ruins will give you a 10/10 view of the NYE fireworks. To get here, head to 12 Ave SE near the Saddledome and cozy up against their many sandstone formations. There’s nothing else like it in the city.

Ah, Scotsman’s Hill – if you know, you know. From here, you can see the entire city skyline and the Saddledome – which makes for a picture-perfect way to watch the 2023 NYE fireworks show. Take it in, folks. There really is nothing like it.

TOM CAMPBELL’S HILL

With benches and a solid view of the Bow River, Tom Cambell’s Hill is another local favourite. From sunsets and northern lights to the skyline and of course, fireworks displays – this is another spot with a quiet but pretty decent view of Calgary’s NYE celebration.

BELLEVUE AVENUE

Warm up those legs, Calgary – because Bellvue Avenue is another one that requires a little muscle work. Located on the edge of Ramsay, this beautiful hill will give you an unobstructed view of the city skyline. What better way to catch the fireworks?

Too cold to go out? We totally get it and so do the folks at the city of Calgary. This year, for this reason, YYC will actually be streaming their fireworks show on their website, so no matter where you are, or how little you’re bundled up – you can still ring in 2022 with a magical display of colour and light.
