Happy International Dog Day, folks! And although the dog days of summer might be over, we’ve still got time to enjoy some incredible pup-friendly patios around Vancouver. So, grab your furry friend, and take them for a walk where both of you get a treat at the end of it! It’s the best of both worlds.

Here are the 10 of the best pup-friendly patios in Vancouver.

Mahony & Sons Stamps Landing

Look no further for an amazing dog-friendly patio in False Creek. The Mahony & Sons patio is the perfect place to soak up the sun, and your pup can chill right at the table while you enjoy your meal (or just a couple of brewskis). Plus, you’ve got tons of walking options nearby.

Where: 601 Stamps Landing

Local Kitsilano

This is a great location for before (or after) a stroll along the beach. Although you can’t bring your dog right up to the patio, there is a space in front of the restaurant that is perfect to hang out in the shade. We can also guarantee that they will get more than enough attention.

Where: 2210 Cornwall Avenue

MeeT on Main

The open patio concept, paired with its proximity to Queen Elizabeth, makes this a top choice for us. Get tasty vegan fare and a couple of drinks before you spend 2 hours frolicking around.

Probably our favourite patio in the city (spoiler alert!), Six Acres is small and right in the heart of Gastown. Great spot to tie your pooch up as you tie one on, just make sure you bring treats so they enjoy the experience as much as you will. Plus, the people-watching here is second to none, especially on a weekend.

Where: 203 Carrall Street

This Belgian gastropub on Commercial Drive is great for trying out a new beer while your dog lounges beside you. Also, it’s super close to Grandview Park and Victoria Park, in case you get tired of all the attention you’re getting on the street. There are a few Biercraft locations around the city, but this is our favourite.

Tap & Barrel

A sprawling patio right beside the path makes this one of the best dog-friendly patios in the city. These guys are known for their great patios, so when in doubt, head to one of their locations. Heads up, since we’re trying to cover all the bases, we’re recommending the Olympic Village location.

Where: 75 Athletes Way

Provence Marinaside

Just across the water from Tap and Barrel lies Provence Marinaside. A little more upscale, Provence does seafood-forward French cuisine, so this is an ideal date night spot. Eat some lobster, then walk around either David Lam or Coopers’ Park. 10/10 experience guaranteed.

TAPShack in Coal Harbour is a prime starting point for your walk along the water, and maybe even a little trip around Stanley Park (keeping in mind the coyote danger). Swing by for a quick beer and a little food while your dog chills right beside you. Just try and pick a spot that doesn’t interfere with the bike path.

Where: 1199 W Cordova Street

Bridges Restaurant

Fun fact- Bridges and TAPShack are both a part of the Tap & Barrel family (so obviously, they know their patios). But! This iconic restaurant is going to have a complete transformation this winter, with renovations starting at the end of September. So, swing by and enjoy this longstanding Granville Island spot while it’s still around!

Where: 1696 Duranleau Street

Red Truck

While Red Truck isn’t necessarily close to anything, the massive lot and large patio make it easy for you to throw a ball around in-between brews. So, it gets the nod from us. Keep doing you, Red Truck, and we’ll keep supporting you for it!

Where: 295 E 1st Avenue

And there you have it! Our favourite pup-friendly patios in Vancouver to hit up when we’re out and about with a couple of our best friends. Spread the joy this summer.
