According to the airline, “this route is supposed to be the shortest flight between the continental United States and Mainland China.”

The new flights will depart from Seattle at 11 am local time, arriving in Beijing at 15:10 local time the following day, and will depart from Beijing at 13:10 local time, arriving in Seattle at 09:00 local time.

“Before the four-year hiatus, Hainan Airlines carried approximately 200,000 visitors a year from PEK to SEA. With the new schedule, travelers will have multiple options a week to take the shortest flight between the United States and mainland China,” stated the Port of Seattle.

As well, starting on May 16th, Hainan Airlines will resume flights between Seattle and Chongqing on Thursdays, one flight per week. This is the Airlines’ third route between the United States and China, after Boston to Beijing and Seattle to Beijing.

Hainan Airlines is one of the fastest-growing airlines in China, and is the first and only SKYTRAX 5-Star airline in mainland China.

Currently, one way flights from Seattle to Beijing start at $703 USD for some dates this spring.

Safe travels!
