Get personalized sweets made with love at this old school candy store

From lollypops and taffy to marshmallows and sponge toffee… candy, just like everything else in this world, is much better when it’s made by hand with love. Fortunately, for us sweet shop purists, there’s still one Calgary candy store that truly believes in this! Wonka’s, Loompas’, Beauregarde’s Buckets’, we’d like to introduce you to Volio’s Confections, a one-of-a-kind inner-city spot with a whole lot of sugar to give!

Owned and operated by one of the cutest couples you’ll ever see, this wholesome little spot is what most would consider a very successful passion project.

After making candy just for fun for years, Calgarians Sarah and David decided to follow their dreams, opening their first and only store in 2019, naming it after their french bulldog, Benvolio.

Offering goodies and gumdrops of all shapes, flavours and sizes, Volio’s is known best for its colourful, honest and classic approach to candy.

From the looks of it, these folks LOVE what they do, posting fun and honestly pretty informative videos and pictures to their Instagram of the staff filling their shelves with creative eats, chews and gifts.

But, of course, how could you not adore what you do when your job is literally to make people smile all day?

In addition to their traditional treats, Volio’s has also become pretty popular with the ‘personalized’ crowd.

For an extra fee and a little bit of notice, these mastercraftsfolk will actually customize an entire bag of hard candy with a company logo, date, picture or name – perfect for a friend, an occasion or that someone special who has everything.

Friends, we’d strongly recommend checking this place out, even if you just take a scroll through their Instagram. What they do is pretty cool and it feels mighty good to support local! For more information hit the link below or hit up their social media pages here. Enjoy!
