Ontario resort transforms into winter wonderland with lake skating & chalets

This is what Canadian dreams are made of. Luxury lakefront resort Friday Harbour has unveiled its new winter experience — ice skating on the harbour.

The Skate Escape at Friday Harbour now has a “one-of-a-kind” skating trail along the harbour.

Visitors can glide along the frozen waters of Lake Simcoe and the surrounding marina, with views of the pier providing the backdrop.

Plus, guests can pay a visit to the “charming chalet-style cabins” and enjoy a curated selection of treats and sips.

There’s also the cozy Après Skate Lounge as well as weekend programming like live entertainment, skating performances, and so much more.

There are seven kilometres of trails on Friday Harbour’s Nature Preserve, which guests can explore during their visit.

There are also equipment rentals available, as well as indoor golf at the Nest’s TrackMan Simulator.

The resort is hosting special events for Valentine’s Day and Family Day weekend, and you can see the events schedule here.

Ontario has so many magical places to skate this season, including the mountain-top trail at Blue Mountain, the torch-lit skating trail at Arrowhead Provincial Park, and skating on a winery.

Toronto also has weekly DJ skate parties on Friday evenings throughout February, with free skate rentals and fire pits.

We hope your skates are freshly sharpened because it’s time to hit the ice!
