The urge to hibernate all winter is definitely real, but if you want to embrace the cold and snow for a change, this is the place to do it. The ice skating rink at Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery & Distillery is now open, along with its rink-side heated patio.
Affectionately named “The Great One’s backyard rink,” this experience is as Canadian as it gets.
Bring your skates or rent a pair and glide around the ice at this picturesque rink among the vineyards.
Then, warm up fireside or kick back on The Whiskey Bar heated patio.
On the menu, you’ll find “hot and sturdy cocktails” paired with warm winter-inspired bites created by Chef Maurice.

As the sun goes down, the rink is illuminated by twinklight lights.
On select weekend nights throughout the winter season, the winery hosts DJ skate nights.
There is an admission fee to use the rink, but on February 8th and March 8th, there will be community skate days where the public can hit the ice for free.
Visitors must also book their ice time and table reservation in advance, and you can do so here.
There are so many gorgeous places to skate in Ontario this season.
There’s nothing like summertime in wine country, of course. But, with experiences like these, there’s no denying that winter in Niagara is just as exciting.
