Vancouver is getting a floating concert by the beach this weekend

Who’s ready for a summer concert on the water? This year’s Festival Afloat concert series is setting sail this weekend, and the floating benefit concert will be accessible from Jericho Beach (Iy̓ál̓mexw, ʔəy̓alməxʷ). Let’s dive right in – no pun intended!

Among returning artists this year are Juno-nominee Desirée Dawson and Renee Layla, who visitors can paddle out to listen to or enjoy from the beach. As well, there will be some new performers in the mix – so stay tuned for the latest scoop!

The cause

The benefit concert is in support of several causes, including the Heiltsuk Nation’s legal battle to protect the Great Bear Sea, and the Gitxaała Nation’s campaign to cancel mineral leases on Lax k’naga dzol (Banks Island).

All funds raised from Festival Afloat 2023 will go to the Heiltsuk Nation.
