Here’s when Metro Vancouver’s tallest outdoor Christmas tree lights up this year

With Halloweekend officially wrapped, it’s time to turn our attention towards the burgeoning holiday season. In just a couple of weeks, CF Richmond Centre will light up the tallest outdoor Christmas tree in Metro Vancouver, signalling the start of tons of festivities.

At 78 feet tall, the giant tree will be fully programmed with LED lights. After the official tree lighting on Nov. 14, guests can expect to see daily light and music shows every two hours between 2 and 8 p.m. through Jan. 3, 2027.

“The most memorable moments of the season are the ones we share together, the excitement of a child meeting Santa for the first time, finding the perfect gift, or simply enjoying the festive atmosphere with family and friends,” says Andrea Nickel, senior director, experience, design & delivery at Cadillac Fairview. “Our holiday programming reflects our commitment to creating welcoming spaces where Canadians can gather and celebrate in ways that feel meaningful to them.”

The countdown to the holidays begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, with the tree lighting ceremony and live entertainment in the Outdoor Plaza. Throughout the season, guests can look forward to a brand-new North Pole set this year and visits with Santa, including options for children with sensory needs.

Ready to snag a family photo with Santa? He’ll be returning to select CF shopping centres from Friday, Nov. 13 to Wednesday, Dec. 23, with GA tickets going on sale on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

In addition to photos with Santa, there will be an exterior holiday-themed photo opp area where visitors can capture their own memories, and kids can write letters to Santa.

How much are photos with Santa?

Photos with Santa are booked in five-minute time slots and include five digital photos for $17.50.

As part of the festivities, guests booking Santa visits can enjoy free chocolate tastings and weekend giveaway surprises via Purdys Chocolatier and the LEGO Group.

If you’re already looking towards the holidays, this is a festive local attraction to add to your list!
