This Australian-inspired bar just opened in Toronto & it has a themed menu

You won’t need to travel to the land down under to experience the Australian bar scene. Toronto is now home to an Australian-inspired bar with themed cocktails and snacks. Electric Bill has recently opened its doors and here’s what to know.

The team behind Toronto’s Civil Liberties and Toronto-based Aussie bartender Casey Ryan brings Electric Bill to life, claiming a spot at 866 Bloor St West. You may find its address familiar considering it was where Canada’s first-ever draught cocktail bar and bottle shop pop-up, Civil Pours, welcomed guests this past summer.

It is now a casual, friendly environment where guests can indulge in a curated menu featuring cocktails and snacks inspired by Australian flavours.

“I love living in Toronto but I often find myself missing the Australian bar scene. I wanted to bring our cheeky, laid back bar vibe to this amazing city and provide a place where Torontonians could get a taste for authentic Australian culture – as well as provide a home-away-from-home for fellow Aussies here in Toronto,” said Casey Ryan, owner of Electric Bill.

“From our cocktails and our dishes to the service and the overall atmosphere, Electric Bill channels the best things about Australia’s food and beverage scene and is full of all the Aussie slang you’d expect.”

Banana Bender, Budgie Smuggler, Durry Muncher, Grass Cutter, Whiskey Apple, and Sticky Beak, are just some of the many cocktails offered at Electric Bill. And many are available to order alcohol-free.

As for snacks, it includes Australian Hand Pies, Beef Sausage Rolls, Vegan Rolls, Potato Wedges with Sweet Chilli & Sour Cream, Chicken Parm Lollipops, and Lamington, among many more.

“Our menu is flavour and ingredient driven – we juice fresh fruits for our cocktails, like the apples for the Whiskey Apple, and we change up our offerings seasonally to align with local produce. Our goal is to transport and captivate taste buds, while also being conscious of our environmental impact,” said Ryan.

“Offering memorable customer service is also a major focus. Our team is more casual than formal, and extra friendly – just like they are down under. Australians don’t take themselves too seriously, and we like that vibe.”

Electric Bill is open every day from 6 PM to 2 AM.
