Got a whole bunch of merch from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and don’t know what to do with it? Behold, the Edmonton Quidditch Cup! The fall season kick off tournament for one of the world’s wackiest sports returns next week, and here are some details ahead of its arrival.

While it’s hard to replicate, you know, flying around on a broomstick, there is some method to the madness. Basically a mix of handball, dodgeball, and flag football, the human version of Quidditch is a surprisingly demanding game/sport.

Which is where the Edmonton Quidditch Cup comes in. Kicking things off with a workshop in the morning, the event focuses on those who want to learn the game, not play competitively just yet. After a lunch break, you’ll be able to enjoy ‘recreational games’ to show off what you learned in the morning.

The event will take play on Saturday, August 27th, at Millwoods Park. Registration is only $10, so skip that morning coffee and go have a memorable, sporty experience!

Ironically, this day happens right before the World Dodgeball Championships arrive in Edmonton, too. Where’s coverage from ESPN 8: The Ocho when you need it? They’d have a full weekend of content on their hands, no problem.
