Thinking about adding a new furry bestie to your life? Well, now’s your chance to do so. The City of Toronto has reduced dog adoption fees to just $25 for the rest of January.

Initiated by Toronto Animal Services, the limited-time fee reduction is meant to encourage locals to adopt one of the sweet pups waiting for a home at shelters around the city.

“Many of the dogs available for adoption have been at the shelter for a very long time and have been so often overlooked,” said the City of Toronto.

“There are so many amazing pups that are all deserving of a new home.”

Normal adoption fees for dogs are $185 for male dogs and $215 for female dogs, so you’d be getting an incredible deal.

The City has also shared photos of some of the shelter dogs who are patiently waiting for their new owners.

Toronto Animal Services has an online database of all the adoptable dogs, including their age, breed, and current location.

The adoptable pets range from small and large breeds. There are puppies as young as nine months old and older dogs that are up to seven years old.

If cheaper dog adoption fees is not enough to convince you, there are also many scientifically-proven benefits of having a dog.

Ongoing research by Harvard Medical School says dog owners have lower blood pressure, healthier cholesterol levels, and a lower risk of heart disease than people who don’t have dogs.

They are also less likely to experience bouts of loneliness, anxiety, and depression.

If the idea of being a happier, healthier person appeals to you, your adorable new companion awaits.
