Here’s a real treat for the movie lovers out there. A one-day-only event, called Shakespeare at the Cinema, will be showing the brand new Denzel Washington movie The Tragedy of Macbeth at theatres around the world. And guess what- Toronto has one of them! Here’s what to know about it.

Coming from Apple Original Films and A24, The Tragedy of Macbeth is Joel Coen’s rendition of the classic Shakespeare play Macbeth (naturally). The movie will star Washington alongside another huge name- Frances McDormand (who absolutely tore our hearts out in Nomadland). And yeah, based on the trailer, this looks like it’s going to be amazing.

While A24 has hosted other viewing parties for recent releases this year, this one will actually pre-empt the general release. It’s like a quick taste of what being at a high-class film festival would be like, and we like the idea.

The rules of the game are simple. The Tragedy of Macbeth will show only once, and admission will be on a first-come-first-served basis. You might have to wait around in the cold for a few hours, but honestly, we think this is a perfect way to get into a spookier mood for the holiday season.
