According to Coboconk, Coboconk Balsam Lake is “in the heart of the Trent-Severn Waterway, officially recognized as Canada’s highest body of fresh water from which one can circumnavigate the world by boat – this means you can reach all four oceans starting here in Coby without ever touching land!”

The town even holds a festival to celebrate.

Canada’s Fresh Water Summit Festival is held in Coboconk – “a celebration of history and a way to commemorate the value and importance of fresh water in Canada.”

If you want to check out the waters in Coboconk then why not make a trip out of it? The town has an adorable Inn called The Saucy Willow Inn right by the water.

The Inn features four cottages, 200 feet of pristine waterfrontage with a beach area, and two boat docks.

A must-try if you’re hungry is Becky Jo’s. This spot serves up Portuguese fried dough with so many dips to pick from you won’t know where to start, including peanut butter, strawberry, lemon, caramel, Bavarian cream, apple, blueberry and butterscotch.

There’s even a Provincial Park nearby if you want to round out your trip – Balsam Lake Provincial Park.

Grab a day pass and enjoy the stunning waters. This Provincial Park is known for its good fishing for Walleye, Muskellunge and Large Mouth Bass.

If you love the outdoors then add a road trip to Coboconk Lake to your spring or summer itinerary, Ontario!
