There’s a 28-metre waterfall in Quebec with three observation platforms

You won’t need to travel to the outskirts of Quebec to be one with nature and enjoy the beauty of a rushing waterfall. The Kabir Kouba Falls can be found within a community in Quebec City and it’s the perfect experience to enjoy this fall.

About a 20-minute drive north of the Quebec City core is the Kabir Kouba Falls, aka Chutes Kabir Kouba. They are located within the Communauté-Urbaine-de-Québec, surrounded by local shops and businesses.

Though it’s in the northern part of the city, the falls are on Huron Wendat Nation land, just at the edge of Wendake, Quebec – still within Quebec City.

According to Wendake Tourism, the falls stand 28 metres high and are overlooked by a 42-metre deep canyon.

It’s part of what’s called a transitional zone where lands of the Lower St. Lawrence River give way to the Canadian Shield.

“It’s a great spot for geological phenomena: glacial boulders, potholes, and fossils older than dinosaurs. Plus, there’s a 1.5‑km trail that runs along the Saint‑Charles River,” shares Quebec Cite.

There are three observation viewpoints and staircases to traverse the canyon. “Rich flora and fossils dating back more than 455 million years await you on this territory belonging to the Huron-Wendat Nation,” per Ville de Quebec.

The falls area is accessible daily, from 6 AM to 11 PM and you can find free parking nearby.

From nature adventures to local hotspots, there’s lots to discover in Quebec City.
