This upcoming sunny season calls for a fairytale staycation and what’s more mystical than a storybook cottage in the woods? When we were a kid, the only ‘playhouse’ we had was the one we build using a sheet and some couch cushions – but Charmed Family Resorts in Alberta has brought our Disney dreams to life, creating an entire community of real-life homes fit for royalty and appropriate for all ages.

Originally a company that specialized in making over-the-top playhouses exclusively for children, Charmed announced in 2019 that they also wanted to get the big kids in on the magic too. Just like that Alberta’s enchanting forest was realized.

Located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Charmed Resorts actually opened in 2020 with a single rental cabin (their Midsummer Cottage) but has quickly grown to include 7 magical properties, all inspired by popular children’s stories.

With rounded doors and a ‘folksy floral aesthetic’, their second and third editions, the Elvyn and Lia Cottages, each sleep 4 and include comforting amenities like power and heat, a mini-fridge, firepit, BBQ and a wood-fired hot tub.

In addition, they’ve also added Repunzel’s Cottage, a cozy castle with room for 6 and most recently have begun taking bookings for 3 new retreats.
