From HBO to Netflix, major production companies have brought some huge projects to Wild Rose Country, and this September is no exception. So, who can we expect to see filming in Alberta?
In addition to the amazing crew, the following celebrities will be in and around the area making movie magic—so keep an eye out, but remember to be respectful.
We’re no Hollywood, but we’ve got plenty of lights, cameras, and action.
Best known for her role as Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, Lena Headey is currently in Calgary filming The Abandons.
Starring alongside Lena Headey, Gillian Anderson has also been kicking around Alberta. You might recognize her from iconic projects like The X-Files, The First Lady, or Sex Education.
Based on the beloved young adult novel by Ali Novak, My Life with the Walter Boys (MLWTWB) is currently filming its second season for Netflix—which stars Nikki Rodriguez as Jackie a teen forced to start over on a Colorado ranch occupied by 12 boys.
Alongside Rodriguez? Ashby Gentry, who also starred in the rebooted Are You Afraid of the Dark? TV Series.
If, of course, you’ve been watching MLWTWB, you’ll also recognize Noah LaLonde, who plays Cole Walter. He’s also in Alberta filming for the show.
Best known for her role in the iconic law drama, Suits, Sarah Rafferty is in Alberta as well. You can catch her on Netflix’s My Life With The Walter Boys.
Loved Buffy The Vampire Slayer? There’s a good chance you’ll recognize Marc Blucas who plays George Walter in MLWTWB, which is currently filming its second season in Alberta.
Co-written and directed by Lynne Ramsay, Die, My Love will star Jennifer Lawrence and is described as following a mother struggling to “maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis.” Keep an eye out, as this will be filmed in and around Calgary this fall.
Whether it be from Twilight, The Batman, Harry Potter, or The Lighthouse, you’ll recognize Robert Pattinson.
He will star alongside Jennifer Lawrence in Die, My Love, which will be filmed in Alberta between August, 12th and October 8th, 2024.
This fall, LaKeith Stanfield from Sorry to Bother You and Knives Out will also be in Wild Rose Country filming the Lynne Ramsay, dramedy Die, My Love.
A scream queen! Sissy Spacek, who famously played Carrie in the 1976 adaption of the Stephen King novel will also be in Alberta filming Die, My Love.
Among the rest of Die, My Love’s incredible cast, you Nick Nolte will also be filming in Wild Rose Country. You’ll recognize him from The Prince of Tides and The Thin Red Line.
