The days in Alberta are getting shorter, but that doesn’t mean the adventure has to end when the sun goes down. This month, Canyon Ski Resort is hosting Canyon After Dark, where you’ll have an opportunity to tackle its Aerial Park at night.

With just a headlamp lighting the way, you’ll travel across suspended obstacles and try to balance your way through the course.

This nighttime experience is only happening on two nights this month, so here’s everything you need to know before taking on the Aerial Park after dark.

What to expect at Canyon After Dark

What is Canyon Ski Resort?

If you’ve never been to Canyon Ski Resort, it’s located just outside Red Deer, and according to Canyon Ski Resort, the area transforms from a winter ski hill into an outdoor adventure park once the snow melts.

In the summer, you can race down the Canyon Coaster, a 1,300-metre alpine coaster that winds down the hill, or navigate the Aerial Park, where you can cross suspended obstacles high above the ground. There’s also a zipline, summer tubing, and a bungee trampoline.

What is the Canyon After Dark experience?

Canyon After Dark is essentially a nighttime version of the resort’s Aerial Park. According to Canyon Ski Resort, the obstacles are the same ones that you would normally tackle during the day, but the darkness adds a whole new challenge.

You’ll need to climb, balance, and make your way from one obstacle to the next, all while relying on just a headlamp to see what’s ahead.

Is this a family-friendly experience?

According to Canyon Ski Resort, the experience is open to anyone aged 12 and up, making it a great option for families with older kids or teens.
