Happy Tuesday, Calgary! We hope you had a restful Thanksgiving weekend. Now that we’re back to the usual routine, we’ve got a few local updates to catch you up on. From warmer weather coming our way to a noodle festival planned for next month, there’s lots to talk about.

Grab your coffee, get comfy, and let’s get into everything happening around the city this week.

You can shop for original artwork in Calgary without spending a fortune

Looking to add something new to your walls? The Under $200 Art Show returns to downtown Calgary from Oct. 15 to Oct. 18 and will feature artwork from 70 top-selling artists who have participated in art shows across Alberta.

Everything is priced at $200 or less, so you can find something for your space without spending a fortune.

You’ll find paintings, photography, ceramics, and other pieces to browse, plus live music and photo booths.

Skip and Instacart just teamed up

If you regularly order groceries or takeout, here’s something you might want to know!
Skip and Instacart have teamed up, making it a little easier to get your shopping done without jumping between apps.
You can now shop for groceries, beauty products and everyday essentials through Skip, while Instacart users can order from over 50,000 restaurants across Canada.
And if you’re a Skip+ or Instacart+ member, there are some added savings on delivery fees, too.

Temperatures are climbing after a chilly Thanksgiving weekend

After the little bit of snow we saw in Calgary over Thanksgiving weekend, the forecast is looking a lot warmer for the rest of the week.
According to Environment and Climate Change Canada, temperatures are expected to reach 22°C on Friday, so you can put away your winter coat for the next few days and enjoy the autumn colours before the leaves are gone for the season.

Calgary’s cutest Halloween event is coming up

The Dash of Doom is back this Halloween season on Oct. 24 at North Glenmore Park, with 5K and 10K races, a kids’ race, and activities for the whole family.

There will also be a dog costume parade, so bring your four-legged friends and show off their best look. The best-dressed pups can even win a prize package.

YYC Noodle Festival returns next month

There’s no better time to slurp on a big bowl of noodles than when the temperature starts to drop. YYC Noodle Festival returns Nov. 5 to Nov. 15, 2026, and restaurants across the city will compete to serve up the best dish.

Once you’ve tried a dish, you can cast your vote for your favourite and help decide which restaurant takes home the title of this year’s noodle champion.

And that’s everything you need to know for this week. Hopefully you’ve found something new to try, somewhere to go or a little local news you hadn’t heard about yet.

Have a great week, and we’ll see you back here next Tuesday.
