Canadians frustrated after waiting all night for Cineplex to drop Spider-Man tickets

Looks like the Sunday night rush to get tickets to Spider-Man: No Way Home didn’t go as expected. Marvel fans all over Canada flooded the Cineplex website at midnight but were left disappointed when they discovered that tickets weren’t yet available.

Cineplex only added to the public’s confusion by issuing a statement on Twitter last night, saying that no specific date and time was confirmed for when tickets would be available, but to check their website and social media “every now and then for updates.”

Finally, after a frantic night of waiting for fans, Cineplex announced at 10 a.m. on Monday that the tickets will be released in just two hours at 12 p.m. EST.

The highly-anticipated film is the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and movie-goers took to Twitter to have a collective meltdown when they couldn’t secure their tickets to see it in theatres.

Local box office sites all over the U.S. crashed due to the overwhelming demand for Spider-Man tickets, according to CNBC. It’s safe to say that after almost two years of pandemic uncertainty, movie theatres weren’t prepared for the tidal wave of traffic on their sites.

Here are some of the best reactions that came through during last night’s chaos.

We’ll soon find out how the saga ends for Marvel fans and their quest for movie tickets.
