Vino, brews, & spirits: This BC wine village is the first of its kind in Canada & a great day trip destination

Did you know? Canada’s very first authentic wine village is right here in BC, and it’s officially open for the summer! Starting today, wine lovers and curious travellers alike can check out this massive new development showcasing some amazing local producers. If you ask us, this is a great day trip option to check out ahead of the long weekend – so let’s get right into it!

The development, located just outside of Oliver, is called the District Wine Village. And essentially, it is like a gathering place for the region’s wineries and other local producers. The Village has a total of 16 production facilities with tasting rooms, an on-site vineyard, and an amphitheatre right in the middle of it all. So, everything you need to ‘properly’ taste some tasty bottles of wine.

Other libations

And it’s not just wine on the menu, either. In addition to a culinary experience centre, The Village’s production facilities can handle all kinds of makers, including cideries, breweries and distillers. We’re thinking of it as a version of heading to the mall – only instead of hunting down the best markdowns, you’ll be sipping on all the libations. Sounds like the perfect way to spend a scorching-hot Okanagan summer, if you ask us!

The District Wine Village currently boasts 13 local wineries, a brewery, a distillery, and a ton of fantastic food and entertainment options. In addition to a weekly Wednesday night market, there’s an afternoon performance by Kelowna native Kailee McGuire coming up on Saturday, July 30th at the Centre Plaza (also free admission!)

If you’re a fan of panoramic views (and heights), another fun event on our radar is the hot air balloon ride on Saturday, August 6th. You can check out all of their upcoming events here.

The District Wine Village is currently open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. Stay tuned via their socials for updates on August hours and events.

We’ll see you there, Vancouver!
