Canada’s first Nobu Hotel & restaurant is set to open next year (PHOTOS)

The celebrity hotspot you might recognize from paparazzi photos is set to expand in the North. Canada’s very first Nobu Hotel and restaurant are planning to open in 2022, and it’s been five years in the making.

The project, called Nobu Residences Toronto, will consist of two high-rise towers with exclusive residences, hotel suites, and Toronto’s flagship Nobu Restaurant.

The Toronto hotel will be one of many existing ones around the world, in cities like Miami Beach, Barcelona, Ibiza Bay, Las Vegas, Manila, Los Cabos, Warsaw, Palo Alto, and more. It’s one of the most renowned hospitality brands in the world, founded by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Robert De Niro in 1994.

The structures will be a combination of historic brick façade and sleek, modern glass, conceived by the award-winning architect Stephen Teeple. According to Urban Toronto, the 45-story towers will be located on Mercer Street, with 700 condominiums in total.

Other amenities include a “Zen Garden” outdoor terrace, a high-end fitness centre, retail space, and more. As for the restaurant, it will span across two levels of the hotel, with a bar lounge, private dining rooms, and an outdoor terrace, the outlet says.

Construction for Nobu Residences began in 2017, and a photo of the progress was shared on the hotel’s Instagram back in September 2019. There’s even a penthouse suite on the market, with an expected occupancy of early 2023.

There are Nobu Restaurants in practically every continent, featuring the black cod with miso that the restaurant is famous for. If you can’t wait to experience the cuisine for yourself, you can check out the menu.

It’ll join other incredible hotels that have opened their doors in Toronto recently, including the luxurious nature-inspired 1 Hotel and the revamped Gladstone House.
