With remote work blurring the lines between a typical work/life balance, we have entered the era of a staycation being nearly as necessary as a traditional vacation. The Gladstone Hotel, sister to The Broadview Hotel and one of the most iconic stays in Toronto, is getting ready to reopen with an impressive facelift and a brand new name — Gladstone House.

Having been a part of the city for over 130 years, Gladstone House is returning with a phased approach in September of this year to show off its fresh new look. Along with its updated aesthetics, Gladstone House now features works from over 50 local artists in art installations that can be found in each of the 55 Gladstone House guestrooms.

The new interiors are filled with colourful splashes contrasted by the classic stone and brick finishes, creating a funky but very attractive look that balances modernism and the site’s history.

Though not much has been released on the dining options at Gladstone House, the West Queen West landmark appears to at least have a Queen Street-facing cafe & bistro, along with the ‘Melody Bar’ that you can see a rendering of above.

Put together by Streetcar Developments and Dream Unlimited Corp., Gladstone House will be taking event bookings and room reservations for September onwards.
