We won’t hesitate to say that Canada’s rivalry with our neighbours to the south in women’s hockey is one of the best, and most enduring, parts of the Winter Olympics. And tonight, you can tune in to see Canada take on the US once more in the gold medal hockey game! Here’s what to know about it.

Ever since the introduction of women’s hockey to the Winter Olympics back in 1998, Canada and the US has been rivalry of the sport. We’ve faced off against each other a dominant 5 out of 6 gold medal games, with the sole exception being a Canada-Sweden match back in 2006. Canada has one won three of the matches, the US took two, and the last two instances have gone to either overtime or a shootout.

So if there’s one thing you watch during the 2022 Winter Olympics, it’s tonight’s game. Canada has been dominating so far, winning every single game they’ve played in both the round-robin and the quarter and semi-finals. Meanwhile, the US is just won game off a perfect record themselves, having lost 4-2 to Canada in the round robin format.

Keep in mind, though, that this setup happened at the 2018 Winter Olympics, before the US managed to best Canada in a nail-biting 3-2 win that needed a shootout to decide. We have no doubt that Canada will be taking home gold this time around, but we must admit, it does thicken the plot just a little bit.

Clear off your TV schedule for tonight, because this is a game you won’t want to miss. The Canada-US gold medal game will start at 11:10PM EST/8:10PM PST, and you’re going to want to see every second of it. The easiest ways to watch? CBC, which will be broadcasting the game on CBC Gem, its website, and through regular old TV.

Good luck, Canada!
