This Canadian city was ranked one of the safest places to travel in the world

Before you explore any new country during your world travels, it’s always important to know its customs, cultures, and overall safety – especially if you’re traveling alone. Well, we’re here to help you out! Planning your next trip? There’s a new list that ranks which cities are the safest in the world and one Canadian city made the cut.

In a new ranking by U.S insurance firm Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection, they examined 29 different cities in countries all over the world, listing 15 of them based on safety for travellers.

They made sure to survey savvy travellers and ask them if “they’ve actually visited any of these cities, and only travelers who have actually been to the cities are allowed to rank them on a variety of safety measures, using their first-hand knowledge as a yardstick.”

After a thorough analysis and breakdown, only one Canadian city made the list, landing in the top 3. None other than our beloved Quebec city, Montreal came in third place.

Last year, the French-Canadian destination was first on the list but fell a couple of points behind Reykjavik, Iceland, and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Montreal received a survey score of 71.3% and an overall score of 73.7%. Not too shabby!

Canadian cities have been making a ton of lists lately and with reason. Toronto was recently named one of the best digital cities in the world, and was the first Canadian city mentioned in CBRE’s annual Scoring Tech Talent list.

And that’s not to mention all the Canadian cities that made CBRE’s Tech-30 report, analyzing the tech industry’s impact in North America.

Some major accomplishments from our beloved Canadian cities. For the rest of the cities that made the safest cities to travel to in 2023, check out the list below:
