Canada will reportedly drop testing for arriving travellers next month: report

Big news, folks! The federal government is expected to announce that Canada will be dropping mandatory pre-arrival travel testing for fully vaccinated people coming into the country.

According to CBC, the travel testing mandate will be dropped across Canada on April 1, and an official announcement is expected this week.

Currently, travellers need to have either proof of a negative antigen or molecular test within a day of coming back to Canada. Late last month, Canada removed its global travel advisory, opening the door for Canadians to more freely hit the air for vacations, business trips, and more.

Canadian airlines have been filling flight schedules rapidly in anticipation of a return to normalcy in air travel, offering everything from all-inclusive deals to sunny destinations to cheap domestic flights. Heck, even Australia has opened itself up to welcome back Canadians (and others, of course).

While removing this mandate won’t provide any reprieve for unvaccinated travellers (who will still need a negative test to re-enter the country) it will make travelling a whole lot easier.

Stay tuned for more information and an official release this week.
