We’re getting closer and closer to seeing the WNBA expansion to Canada! The league announced that Toronto would be the home of the country’s first-ever WNBA team back in May but we’re missing a few things like a team name and logo. Well, you can be a part of the process as the league is asking for the public’s help picking a name, design, logo and even the mascot!
Here’s how to get involved.

The WNBA recently launched the Name Your WNBA Team Campaign, which is open from now until August 28th, so if you have any ideas don’t forget to get on it!
According to the league, “We are collecting names, ideas, colours, and creative inspiration from all Canadians to help shape the new name, logo and mascot of Canada’s first WNBA team.”
The website where submissions are to be made has two areas you can utilize, one where you can write your ideas down and another where you’re able to upload photos which can be to show your inspiration, share colour schemes or display a super cool mascot you may have drawn up.
“Everything you submit will be shared with an incredible team of designers and advisors that we’ve assembled to help create the final brand for this trailblazing team. Stay tuned to our social channels for updates,” says the WNBA.
The Toronto team will join the league for the 2026 season, so while it may be a bit of time to see your ideas come to fruition it would be well worth the wait!
We’re counting the days until the 2026 season here in Toronto! We can’t wait to see what ideas you come up with for Canada’s first WNBA team and don’t forget – the deadline is August 28th, 2024.
