Beer lovers likely need no reminder that BC is considered the craft beer capital of Canada – and this year’s Canada Beer Cup just confirms it. Showcasing quality and innovative beers from independent breweries across the country, the Canada Beer Cup is a renowned competition featuring national and international judges and 11 categories of brews.
Last year, the inaugural award went to East Van’s Callister Brewing, and it looks like the Canada Beer Cup is staying right here in BC for another year, thanks to Deadfall Brewing in Prince George.
Awarded on October 25th in Niagra Falls in conjunction with the Ontario Craft Brewers Conference, the 2023 Canada Beer Cup was awarded to the small-town brewery for its delicious ‘Basal Brown,’ which was entered in the American Style Brown Ale category.
Having just opened its doors last year, Deadfall Brewing is relatively new to the scene, but has no doubt already made a huge impact in Prince George and beyond. According to the BC Ale Trail, three out of four of the brewery’s owners are PhDs – including three biologists turned brewmasters.
